This is a dehydrated potato.

I was helping today with a scientific experiment. We were trying to find out the water content of a potato. We had to record the start weight of the potato, microwave it for one minute, weigh it and repeat until it stopped losing weight. Mine started at 117g and finished at 25g after 15 minutes. The potato finished up rock hard, the microwave was full of smoke and there were scorch marks on the glass turntable. I probably should have given the potato one more minute in the microwave but by that time I was in very real danger of setting fire to something. So I gave up.

Later in the week we'll be exploring osmosis by dunking cucumbers in water.
