Next steps

So, it looks like the large holes that have been dug are definitely for foundations for the new bit of house.

I had secretly been harbouring hopes someone was digging me a moat... I'm reading a book called Waterlog by Roger Deakin in which he describes swimming in seas, lochs, rivers, lakes (and possibly even large puddles) across the UK. His house has a moat that he swims in throughout the year. Things you never knew that you needed ;-)
