Kelsae, Bonnie Kelsae
Today we drove to Kelso, where I went to High School. In the blip you can see the ruined abbey, destroyed by Henry VIII. The bridge was by Telford, the prototype for London bridge. Last time I took a photo from this spot 20 years ago, the trees were so small the River Tweed could be seen. We met daughters and niece at their Gran's house where we started sorting her stuff out prior to clearing the house - it is brother-in-law's house and he wants it ready for sale as soon as possible. Funny how aspects of people's characters can be seen from what they want to keep - niece wanted the TV and DVD, #2 daughter took some old books that her Gran had read to her and a small bookcase, #3 daughter took some old blue and white serving plates and a cane chair, Mr C took some pictures of his grandparents and the family bible, and I took the paintings I'd given her plus a cushion #1 daughter had made for her. My other niece couldn't come but she is having the rocking chair. We have sorted bags for charity shops and then we'll get a house clearance person to come for the rest. It's sad and depressing to see how those possessions that were precious to her are wanted by nobody. I feel I must get on with some serious de-cluttering in our house.
