From Bad To Worse
When I say things are going from bad to worse, I’m not talking about a kingfisher blip taken from a shaking boat yesterday to a less exciting bird taken from the same vibrating boat today.
As usual we were up for an early start. We wanted to get back to the marina in time to get our chores on the boat done tonight so we could be home early tomorrow. The engine wouldn’t start. Again! It turned over sluggishly as if the starter battery was flat. No jump leads! Phoned the Rescue Service again. They couldn’t get to us before lunch.
By 11am desperation had set in and The Fellas had a proper think about the problem and wondered if the lead from the leisure battery would be long enough to reach. Just and so. Brrummmm! We were off!
At 1.15pm I got a call from the Care Home to say that The Mother had badly banged her head and was suffering dreadful confusion. The Doctor had phoned for an ambulance. Periodically I rang the Infirmary for news. It was 5pm before she got there. By 8.45pm, as we were ready for bed she was still confused and hadn’t been assigned a bed.
Thankfully, I managed to sleep.
