Ramblings from Zambia....

the elephant calendar.....

My visitors left this morning on the 7am bus to Lilongwe - was great having them! Work was busy today - we had a budget meeting all morning!!

Came home this afternoon to find a wood carver who I knew when I lived in Zomba on my doorstep. He was selling lots of things but he knows I like elephants and so he brought some elephant calendars. These are 12 elephants ranging in size from big to small. They begin the year all facing the same way and as each month goes by, one elephant is turned in the opposite way!

Today a buffalo broke out of one of the national parks and damaged a primary school before killing a ranger who was trying to get it back into the park! The park in question unfortunately is not well looked after and fences are broken so often elephant and buffalo break out!

Tonight I welcomed another Irish couple to Mzuzu - they are staying at a guesthouse owned by a friend so I will meet them tomorrow!

Thanks for continuing to comment - I will get round to replying eventually. Right now though its bedtime! Goodnight!
