The Angel Inn was once an old coaching inn in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth centuries. Charles Dickens arrived at the Angel in the mid Nineteenth century but stayed at the White Horse and Griffin in Church street. The Angel has been completely modernised and is now owned by Wetherspoon.
