Brilliant Sumac

This small tree/shrub brilliantly line the roadways in Autumn.
It is pretty nondescript the rest of its growing season, but
during the autumn color change, it decorates the roadsides
with brilliant displays. Its blossoms turn into wands of red
in fall, also.

Our American Indians used the wands to make a drink, sumac-aide,
and also used it in their smoking pipes. It must smell lovely
as it burns.....
