A chimney......

Looks like a chimney - but is it?

I went with a friend today to look at the house he is buying and whilst we were waiting we noticed that one of the other properties had a chimney. Nothing unusual you might think but then we looked more closely.

If this was a true chimney then it would have been running through the bedroom below. Looking through the spy glass (monocular) I saw that it was in fact plastic! The 'concrete' capping is plastic as is the 'brickwork' - obviously plastic panels as the coursing is far too regular and neat. Had I had the camera with me then I would have been able to zoom in closer and no doubt see the joint of the panels.

I suspect that it conceals a flue for a gas fire/woodburner or similar but it was the only one on the estate.

What will they come up with next.
