Long Weekend

It was a long weekend. I had a lot of family stuff going on and we didn't get home until late last night, but I’m not going to talk about any of that today. Instead I’m going to talk about Saturday, because it was much better and I prefer to dwell on the positive in any situation. So, on Saturday I went to see The Maze Runner, which I have been waiting to see since they announced that it was being turned into a movie. I had read the book a while ago, and I really enjoyed it, so I was excited to see its film adaptation. We went with a big group, and I know that there are only a few people in this picture, but I didn’t have a picture of the whole group on my phone. I love going to the movies. I love that moment when the lights dim and you can smell the buttery popcorn and everyone gets silent as the film starts. Overall, I thought the movie was pretty good, although it was very different then the book. I’m not going to go into details and specifics because this isn’t a book review, but let’s just says that there were a few parts that I was genuinely confused about. But that’s okay because it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. After seeing the movie we all had different feelings about it. Those of us who had read the book were aware of how different the movie was. Some of us, like me, were okay with that. Others were very disappointed. At first I was, too. But then I realized that I could enjoy the movie independent of my love of the book. It was not a 10 hour long narration of the book; it was an adaptation of it, and a good one. So to readers and nonreaders alike, I would recommend seeing The Maze Runner.
