Good news

Baby Akira born safely into the world and receiving the care and love of her parents and family and hospital staff. Was lucky enough to speak to the proud mum yesterday and she sounded so peaceful, though very, very tired. Dave is thrilled to have a new niece and kids are thrilled to have another cousin. Looking forward to an October visit.

And today was meant to be about rediscovering the colour of my carpet and tidying up the house after a long referendum and a hectic few weeks. You know things are bad when your kids run out of underwear and I had to steal a pair of Dave's. But reinstating order had to wait yet a few more hours as got a call to come up to New Deer. So off we went, meeting up with so many faces and new friends I've made this summer. And of course this man, who despite it being scheduled as a local party business meeting, invited the assembled 100s in and talked with them for some time. Tess and I settled for hearing him speak briefly outside and left without joining the throngs inside. Had to pick up nature boy in the big city.
