The Abbey and The Church
I managed to persuade 50% of our children to come along with me on a jaunt to see the display of The Stirling Heads in the Great Hall of Stirling Castle.
Billed as Scotland's 'other Crown Jewels' they are mighty impressive looking and, having taken five years to recreate, demonstrate a great deal of skill in their reproduction. Mine and Euan's favourite character had to be the Jester who looks like he's either mooning or has been suddenly overcome with a severe bout of flatulence. Father and son humour in perfect harmony.
Heading back home we stopped to capture this shot. I'd been noticing how the profile of Cambuskenneth Abbey matched the Church of the Holy Rude's up near the Castle (might need to GO LARGE to see this) and wanted to capture the two of them together. I did have other versions of this, but I liked the way the clouds above the top of the town resemble a prone figure being carried along on the sunbeams.
