Sgeir Dubh

This morning we decided to go north and take our chances at Am Balg, a rocky island off the West coast. It was pretty swelly but we had a fabulous dive on the east side of the rock in 25m visibility. I didn't take the camera with me because it looked like we might have to make a quick recovery . . . and we did!

After lunch in a lovely little sandy bay at Sheigra, we dived Sgier Dubh (the ubiquitous 'Black Rock'). The vis wasn't quite so good but the dive is spectacular with rocky gullies and patches of pure white sand. Towards the end of the dive we watched five or six larger fish, possibly pollock , feeding on this shoal of sand eels. It was fascinating, a bit like the sardine run on a much smaller scale.
