Daedalum - Wheel of the Devil

The zoetrope was invented in 1834 by William Horner, who originally called it a Daedalum (meaning Wheel of the Devil).

Today was a day for friends. Charlotte has been worried about a friend of hers that seems to be having issues with other friends. So she invited her over, along with another friend to try and resolve the issue. It worked a treat. After laughter and giggles at home, we braved the weather for a trip to Ironbridge.

First to Enguinity where we stayed for a few hours. At one point, the girls came back with an extra child which sort of freaked me out as having 3 to worry about was bad enough! Then we decided that a stop at Coalport would be nice as the 2 friends have never been to Ironbridge before.

While at Coalport, they were working on the Chinese Zodiac quiz when we went into the Children's Gallery. The kids loved playing on this Zoetrope which was very special for Charlotte as her daddy made it almost 10 years ago when we were asked to re-create the Children's Gallery after the Floods of 2000. The pride in Charlotte's voice when she told her friends was so sweet. (For more information on that project, click here). While we have been back to the Gallery many times, it was the first time we have taken other children with us and saw their reaction to the Zoetrope and the gallery. Even though it's almost 10 years old, it still brings a lot of smiles.

All and all, it was a wonderful day ... even with the rain and snow :-) And yes, the friend they were worried about now has a bit more confidence so Charlotte was very happy about that.
