Winter wheat

What's not to love about a red tractor?

This field is now completely different from a few weeks ago, when the entire pea crop, surplus to requirement, was weedkillered and ploughed in.

This is the winter wheat being drilled in the early evening sunshine (about 6 pm). The year before last was so wet that the same field was not ploughed and planted until April which was bad news for the larks. Better news for next year provided the growth is not too dense.

The soil is very reddish. That's why many people in the locality have terracotta coloured carpet.

Apologies for the lack of comments in the past few days with much appreciation for continued interest in my blip journal. Too much pressure on too little time. Hope to be back in action later in the week.
