Arizona Dreamin’

Eerie Morning

< back blip >

This was to be the last day for the effects of what once was Hurricane Odile. Odile was the most devastating hurricane to ever hit the Baja peninsula of Mexico. You can see the rain moving in from south (R) to north (L) along the mountains.

Cool enlarged.

It has rained here for days. And when it wasn't raining the cloud cover was so thick it interfered with my satellite television reception. For three days at Starbucks the free wi-fi wasn't even available!

Most people wouldn't associate hurricanes with Arizona, but during the summer, Pacific hurricanes that form along the west coast of Mexico sometimes send moisture up the Gulf of California (that narrow body of water between the main part of Mexico and the peninsula). That triggers thunderstorms here.
