Dutch Skies

We hanged our shoes upon the willows...

Well, I don't know if this is a willow tree; probably not. However, these shoes have been hanging there for quite some time now. I see them every day when I'm driving to work. Ever since I spotted them a couple of weeks ago, I have been thinking "Now that's something I need to take a picture of."

We all know it's not a good idea to take pictures while driving. But in this case, the best angle for this shot is on the road. Luckily, there are traffic lights about 100 metres further up the road. So what I needed to take this shot was:

1. Enough traffic in front of me.
2. A red light timed just right so I would have to stop at the desired spot.
3. The camera, ready to fire.

Numbers 1 and 2 happen quite frequently but it wasn't until today that I prepared for this shot by having the camera on the chair next to me, switched on and with what I thought would be good settings.

This morning I experienced something new: I cheered when the traffic light turned red and I had to stop.... And it was exactly at the right spot! I quickly opened the car window and took some shots.

I know this is not a brilliant picture, but I'm very pleased with it. And you know what? There are many more shoes in the same tree! But why? It's a mystery...

Enjoy your day!
