A. J. Stevens & Company Limited were formed in 1914 and began to manufacture motorcycles under the name of A.J.S. The A.J.S. motorcycles were successful right from the beginning and moved to larger premises in 1915. ALS soon became a well known and successful motorcycle manufacturer, whose reputation was enhanced by its yearly participation in the Isle of Man T.T. races and other sporting events. In the late 1920s sales declined because of the recession, that lasted well into the 1930s. In 1931 the company went into voluntary liquidation, and the Graiseley Hill site was sold.
I could have blipped a photo of earthbonding to the central heating boiler that took place today at the request of the buyers solicitor. It would have shown the new earthbonding at the top of the pipes, with the 3 year old earthbonding lower down. We were told it wasn't necessary to do it again but what do you do when its part of the contract that has just been exchanged.
