Electricity
Today we went down to the New Forest to see the co-operative solar farm that we invested in. We went down on the train using up some Gold Card free tickets. The solar farm is on a disused gravel pit that has been filled in and wasn't doing anything and is ajaset to a water treatment works. A local bought it and set up a co-operative to raise money to install solar panels on the site. When we arrived the BBC were doing some interviews and we even managed to appear in the local South Today in the back ground!
The blip is the edge of a bank of solar panels. They were installed by a leading UK installer and manufacturer. The panels are from China which is the worlds leading manufacturer and exporter of panels.
I won't get quick from the scheme but even after tax it's better than the interest rate a bank would give me, and I feel like I'm making a contribution towards reducing the UK's colossal CO2 footprint.
