Derwentwater

Well its been an eventful start to our wee break here in the lakes.....Its my mums 70th birthday this week and as a surprise, myself and dad arranged for Fiona (my sister) and her hubby and two boys to make a wee trip from Leicester and stay the night with us.

When they arrived at the place we are staying, my Mum was completely taken aback - in a very pleasant way of course and so the birthday weekend could carry on.

This - I think - is the first time they have visited the Lakes and we decided to let them see some of the delights this beautiful part of the world has to offer and since my mum will no longer be scurrying up the nearest hill, a trip on one of the launches on Derwentwater was in order.

This is a shot of the front of it looking towards Skiddaw - a hill we climbed a couple of years back and the cottage that we are staying in sits at the very bottom of it in the beautiful hamlet of Millbeck.

More surprises for my mum?? I think so!!
