OUR FIRST LESSER SPOTTED WOODPECKER
An early start this morning (5.30am) we went to a bird ringing station in a water meadow. Mist nets had been set up and the caught birds were weighed, measured and ringed. I took a lot of close up shots of birds but decided not to post any of them.
Instead I chose this non too clear shot of a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker we saw when we went into a forest. We have been "hunting" for this bird for many years and it just flew into a tree in front of us and flew from tree to tree around a clearing in the forest.
