The Lost Valley in Glencoe
I was at the polling station in Inverness when it opened this morning and after voting, set off for Glencoe, hoping to climb Meall a Bhuridh and Creise. Alas, when we got there we found the hills shrouded in cloud and mist ....
So .... off to the visitor centre to regroup and have a coffee, following which we set off to find the Lost Valley, where, in days gone by, the MacDonald clan apparently used to hide the cattle they had stolen, and where survivors of the 1692 Glencoe massacre fled to for safety.
After negotiating a steep, rough and rocky path which involved a bit of scrambling, we eventually emerged into the Lost Valley. From the road below you would never know it was there! It was a lovely three and a half hour walk (in spite of the iffy weather), which compensated a bit for not being able to climb the two munros.
Now waiting for the referendum results ... will it be a yes or a no?
