Juvenile herring gull
A late blip this evening as I went to listen to one of the speakers at the Literary Festival. The author was Kate Mosse talking about her new novel, the Taxidermist's daughter. She said that although she learnt how to skin a crow, as a vegetarian it wasn't pleasant and this detail does not appear in the book. The book is set in her home county of Sussex where she grew up and still lives. I was almost tempted to buy the book and get it signed but I tend to read most of my books on my kindle these days as it's easy to transport.
The juvenile gull was on the beach half heatedly trying to pinch a meal from an adult but the adult bird wasn't going to give it's supper away.
