Sycamore moth
We found this splendid looking chap (or lady) wriggling around so brought him home temporarily for an examination with the bug kit.
I think it's a sycamore moth (Acronicta aceris) - a vividly-coloured caterpillar for a very monochrome moth. Examined and photographed, it's now back out in the yard.
As an aside, I have totally failed to post an image a day on Blipfoto (not anywhere near), but I think I'll keep going with the odd things as I get them.
