Emergency...

Due to a problem on the high voltage system unit EC 4 went off the grid and went into a total black-out....
Only some emergency pumps were running when we came on duty.
The shaft was at standstill and that's can be fatal for a (steam)turbine.

The turninggear which lets the shaft run at 120 rev. per minute to let it cooldown equally did not work, due to the high voltage problem.

We were lucky to make the shaft "break away" from the bearings by means of this valve, supplying auxiliary steam to the low-pressure turbine.

As I type this we are on turning gear again and ready to start....
