Can I press 'rewind' please?
Today was not the greatest day in the life of Roz. I got up, had my usual shower etc. and went to Solihull as it was Wednesday and I had a monthly one-to-one with my current manager scheduled for 8am.
I got my usual cuppa from McDonalds and then had trouble with the little milk sachet! I only ever have one as I like my tea strong and dark. I couldn't get the top to rip and when I looked around to ask Mr Smiley for another milk sachet he had disappeared so I stupidly decided to use my teeth and only succeeded in ripping the top off spraying myself with milk in the process. How can such a tiny thing cause so much mess is beyond me.
I stomped up to the council house in a really cheerful mood and as soon as I got into the office I discovered that everything had been unplugged again. The joys of hot desking! Even when everything was plugged back in, the 'connecting' message would not disappear. After ten minutes I picked up my things and headed out of the door. John - my unfortunate manager - was on the way in and I errrrm... had a bit of a rant at him. I told him amongst other things that I had found it a complete waste of time coming into an office where I felt about as welcome as a fart in a space suit when I couldn't even get any work done on both visits this week and then I marched off towards the bus stop leaving poor John gaping like a fish.
I stood at the bus stop fuming for five minutes and then glanced at my watch wondering when Robert Dyas was open as I needed to get sunflower seeds for the birds. It was only 7:40am so with reluctance I headed back to the office again. I was in plenty of time for my 8am meeting with John who was his usual self with me. That took about three minutes as I'd said everything before I left the first time!
Half an hour later, after raising a help desk call, it transpired that a couple of servers needed rebooting before myself and people in the Care First office across the corridor were back up and running. I don't think any of them had gone bananas though! Well, it was bad that on both occasions I had gone to the office in the past month, nothing had worked! It's a bit hard not to take it personally!
The rest of the day passed fairly peacefully with only a couple of noisy discussions sparked by the 'Yes' badge on my desk. The 'No' people had only given me a sticker which the sticky stuff had worn off after half a day.
I got bird seed at lunchtime, trod in dog mess getting of the bus on the way home but at least the squirrels were pleased to see me and were actually watching me from the shed roof while I topped up the nuts and changed the bird bath water.
This little fellow appealed to me - Go large!
Track? I've done it before but here's a fine cover of a song written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse in 1964 but performed by loads of people! - Feelin' Good!
