Patriotic blooms

I was sitting at my desk during lunch hour today, just the usual, when one of my ex-pupils, K, came in. She left school before the summer, having gone all the way through to 6th year. K had always had contact with our Support Department and I had seen her grow from a sometimes teary and anxious S1 to a confident and outgoing young woman. One of the things that had always impressed me about K was that she had such a strong work ethic and had held down a variety of part-time jobs since being old enough to be employed. I know that she will do just fine out in the big bad world - she's got so many qualities that will endear her to people and she has the resilience and inner strength to cope with most situations. She had two bouquets with her today - not sure who the other one was for but she saw me first so I got to choose which one I wanted! I picked this red, blue and white one - the colours were so brash and bold - just like K herself in fact. They were such a touching and thoughtful gift. Bless you K - now go and achieve your dreams!
