Island Retreat

With weekend plans of simply relaxing, we received a very timely invitation to head to the Western Isles for a weekend with the cousins - all six of them - to re-live many previous holidays cavorting around the grand old house of my great aunt.
The house is still there, although sadly the great aunt is not. It's been spruced up for renting out, but we still had porridge for breakfast, hot from the aga, and roast dinner round the imposing dining table with the previous residents watching sternly from their portraits on the walls.

We'd hoped to see the Northern Lights on arriving at quarter to midnight Friday night, but sadly they didn't show up. Saturday was full of walks, beach games and swims in the Atlantic, before open fires and roast dinner. Brilliant.
