Neighborhood Free Station. I've included the statement the owners posted on the side of the box:
This hutch was inspired by the international "little library" movement (google it) in general, and by the first one Robin saw at 1769 King in specific. But "library" was the wrong word, as we don't want to lend--we want to GIVE AWAY all sorts of items, including lots of books.
We've been accumulating stuff for over forty years and this seemed like a good way to reverse the process--by finding folks who want some of it. Besides books and magazines, we will be putting out various other things, such as household items, and extra fruit and vegetables during their seasons.
Feel free to take as much as you want of anything. That said, please don't take anything for resale. Take it for yourself. Take it for a friend.
If you want to communicate with us (and we aren't hanging out in our front yard), feel free to write in the notebook above the shelves. Make a comment, ask a question, or even request a category of books. We will answer any question via the book.
Thanks, and enjoy!
The hutch is very sturdy and delightful. In addition to books, I saw some lemons, a stack of magazines, a couple of computer cables, a box of beautiful rocks, and a pair of pants.
