Aldeyjarfoss, Dettifoss and Selfoss

There are a lot of beautiful waterfalls here in Iceland and today I drove with my husband to see three of them. First we went to Bárðardalur to see Aldeyjarfoss. Here I am sitting on the edge of the cliff opposite the waterfall - what a great place to view the glorious basalt columns and powerful stream of water!
After admiring this wonder of nature, we had lunch in Dalakofinn at Laugar, Þingeyjarsveit, and then we drove to Dettifoss. It's magnificent size and noise is almost overwhelming. Just a few minutes walk from Dettifoss is Selfoss, also a big and beautiful waterfall(s).

When we arrived home at 19:30 my son, Kári, had started to cook kjötsúpa and having this soup for dinner was a great ending to a splendid Sunday :)
