Uffington White Horse
Our escape from the house today took us up White Horse Hill with its barrows and renowned Bronze Age chalk carving. From the hill itself of course one can't see the horse properly, indeed to see it at its best you need to take an aerial shot. This was as close as I managed today, about half way from the car park to the summit. There was the usual sprinkling of kite fliers and people like us who'd climbed up for the atmosphere of the place and the view and of course a joyous pack of wagging dogs.
