on my way home this evening every duck i passed was sitting on the opposite bank, not a single duck in the water all along the canal, and here there were a whole collection of ducks sat. i wondered if they knew something i didn't. do ducks sit if it's going to rain, i wondered - like cows are alleged to do (according to my granny). anyway, there they all are.
