My Baby Book

My parents are in the process of moving house and today they brought me something I hadn't seen in about 3 decades: my baby book! There was also a bag of letters and cards they had received on my birth.

The book amuses me greatly - I had my first cereal at 11 weeks?!! My, how times have changed! NHS advice is of course now that no solid food should be given before 6 months (Ted lunged at a fresh fig that I was eating the day before he was 6 months old, so that was his first food other than breastmilk!).

However, this early introduction to solids clearly did me personally no harm as I appear to have been very advanced in many ways. totally potty trained before the age of 2 for example. Makes Ted (currently 27 months old and showing NO interest in the potty) seem very slow! I'm seriously not concerned in the least, but it does show just how different babies are from each other.

I'm glad I made the effort (and it was a huge blinking effort!!) to complete Ted's baby book (a lovely Eric Carle one). Feeling mildly guilty that I didn't keep all the cards though...!
