Walk on the Wildlife

Another day gone and another different Blip. The road trip of dreams started today as we went 130 miles down the coast from our beloved San Francisco to Monteray absorbing breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean along Highway 1. Our Jeep is perfectly adequate and though the radio stations are pretty bland it does try to hide the sometimes animated discussions re which street to take next... The temptation was to show the ocean highway or stunning beauty behind Fishermans Wharf in Monteray Bay but the wildlife here was too good to ignore. We've seen sea lions, seals, pelicans, crabs and all kinds of fish all in their natural habitat. Here a pelican (and a big fat gull) look over 20 sea lions coming in for their dinner under a restaurant. Afterwards they all fall asleep on the jetty and then make their way back into the ocean. Just round the other side of the pier 4 big old seals were lying on rocks 10 metres from the shoreline. This is a sight not often seen at Southend or Blackpool...

When you're all starting to think about work on Monday last afternoon tomorrow we'll be setting off for an exciting day down the coast to Santa Barbara but first my treat... 17 mile drive and the best golf course in the World - Pebble Beach
