Fast and furious
Took Rosina out car hunting this morning. We took two cars out for a test drive but didn't buy either. I'm going to have to add used car salesmen to the bonfire as they were less than impressive today. Actually, I retract that statement for the first guy. He was open and honest, but how his dealership could offer up for sale a car that had supposedly been checked over by their technicians but was far from satisfactory on the test drive (sluggish, engine warning light on, end of the handbrake came off in my hands, developed a misfire) is beyond me. Needless to say we walked away from there empty handed.
Second garage - asked to test drive a Citroen DS3. Initially told we could, but after quite a wait, the salesman came back and said we couldn't test drive that particular car because it hadn't yet been prepped and they were unsure of its mechanical condition. Not to worry, we could test drive an identical car that had been prepped, so we did. Very nice to drive, but when we got back I asked if I could check out the interior of the car we were interested in buying. More hesitation on the part of the salesman because hew reminded us, 'the car hadn't been prepped'. Yes, I go that the first time. I want to check for damage, not cleanliness. He reluctantly allowed us to look inside. Lo and behold, an extra pair of pedals on the passenger side. An ex driving school car. 60,00 miles clocked up in the lower gears. Off we go again. Empty handed. They were clearly going to sell that car without coming clean on its history. Now where did I put my matches?
