I hate to disillusion you, but, when you buy the latest celebrity memoir from Tesco and read all about the childhood days, the early breaks, the troubled years battling addictions and the resolution achieved through the love of a good woman/man/cat, the words you are reading weren't necessarily written by the celebrity themselves.

Often, the book is rushed out by an anonymous hack given a couple of hours to talk to the star and access to a clippings file.

How many readers of the gripping life story of Leaf Eriksson realised that the deathless prose did not originate with the great explorer himself but, instead, came from the pen of this chap? He was also behind the autobiographies of Buddy Holly, Twiggy and "Chloro" Phill Jupitus.
