Peter May at Village Books

Peter May, Scottish author of The Lewis Trilogy, is not as well known as he deserves to be in the US. Although the series has sold over a million copies in the UK alone, and has been translated into many languages, the books have not been readily available in the US, and readers here have had to resort to ordering the books from the UK.

In August, Quercus USA announced plans to publish the series in the US, and Peter and his wife Janice are currently on a grueling publicity tour of North America. We were delighted to find that the itinerary included our local Fairhaven bookstore, Village Books.

Peter is a wonderful story teller, orally as well in print. His stories were absolutely fascinating -- I could have listened to him for hours. We also enjoyed brief conversations with Peter and Janice before and after the talk. All too soon it was time for them to return to Seattle, where Peter had done another book-signing earlier in the day.

We hope they come back to Bellingham and stay longer next time.
