A rustic wedding cake

This is the wedding cake I made for my friends. They requested a bare sponge cake with buttercream and jam (no icing) with just berries and a bit of dusting with icing sugar. The result was a bit rustic! :)

I had a very stressful and tiring day to start with, but then I enjoyed the wedding in the end.

First of all I had to go to the catering venue to assemble the cake, which took me a while. The venue was in Stockbridge and I live in Leith. I was running a bit late so I decided to get a taxi, because I still had to get ready before going to the wedding. Twenty minutes passed and no taxis!!!! Panic!!! Took the bus. It took me ages to get home. I got home by the time I wanted to be in the registry office! I got ready as fast as I could and then I tried to grab a taxi again... no luck! Had to get another bus. The bus was really slow and there was no way I was gonna make it on time. Only five minutes before the ceremony started!!! Got off the bus, grabbed a taxi and told him to go there as fast as he could! He did. I got there just on time for the start of the ceremony, almost shaking!!

Anyway... everything seemed to go fine with the photography up to this point, although I was a bit nervous. But afterwards, when we went to the catering venue and I started taking the group photos, my camera decided to play up. I kept having this error message telling me there was a problem with the connection between the camera and the lens. I kept taking the lens off and puting it back on, and this seemed to solve the poblem momentarily. It was really nerve-wracking taking the group photos like this, though. Thank god, there was someone organizing the groups for me!

Getting up early, finishing the cake, the nerves I went through with the photography... I was knackered!!

My friends invited me to the meal and the party afterwards, so I managed to relax a little bit in the end, but I went home early because my body was giving in. I had a great time though! :)

Thanks very much for all your lovely comments, and sorry I haven't been commenting much. I haven't had much time for blipfoto and now I have a big load of photos to process, so my activity will still remain low I'm afraid...

I hope you all have a great weekend! :)
