Chedham's Yard
This little gem of a place had an open day today as part of a heritage day.
Chedham's Yard is a blacksmith's and wheelwright's workshop dating from the early 19th century. It is located in the village of Wellesbourne near Stratford and is owned and run by the village.
The Yard was run by five generations of the Chedham family, the last of whom, Bill Chedham recently passed away. The Yard is crammed with tools, equipment and items made on site along with the materials to make them.
You may have heard of this place as it won the BBC Restoration Village television programme in 2006 and as a result received £1 million in funding which was used to restore it.
It's really interesting and a photographer's dream. I spoke to them about the possibility of arranging a photography visit when it was closed so we could bring tripods. Anyone interested in a blipmeet? We would need about 12 people. Jane and I were almost the first there this morning so it wasn't too crowded.
