The Tantrum Queen

Me this week, that is.

I dug this book out after my session with A this week. I bought it years ago but never read it, but I'm going to try and read it now.

I think years ago I skim read it, but this part I always remembered.

" Insecurely attached children and adults are more prone to neuroses such as phobias and obsessions. General anxiety is much commoner in children whose parents are strict or over-controlling. Frightening parents makes for frightened children. OCD - irrational, repetitive thoughts or behaviour- is far commoner in children whose parents were aggressive, chaotic or intrusive. It can develop as a way of creating reliable order, the repetition of a ritual becoming the one safe feature of an otherwise scary world. OCD is also often a way of regaining control in the face of over-controlling, perfectionist parents. "

Well, the book is called "They F*ck You Up ;-)

Irritability hit an all time high today. Someone has now taken to trawling my anonymous blip to try and find out what's going on in my life (why, I have no idea?), so I'll keep it brief.

I think the all time low was trying to juggle multiple items out of the car, and getting furious with my hot chocolate that slipped out of my arms just as I was showing of my brilliant multi-tasking skills, slopping all over the sleeve of the hoodie that was clean on only an hour before. In my head I was furious with my arms, something along the lines of " why the f*ck have I only got two of these?!"

Argh! Going out to meet a friend tonight, so hopefully my rage will be kept away ;-)
Otherwise, look out.....!
