The young lady on right of centre in the photograph tweets under the lovely twitter name of @catspyjamas123. This was only a few of the many dozens of yes activists out today on the streets of Kirkcaldy.

What I really liked was the cheerful, smiling faces all around the Yes camp. No one knows what the result of Thursday's vote will be, but the happy optimism of the Yes campaigners is something I hope we don't lose after the vote, whatever the result.

Its remarkable that this campaign has led to the highest voter registration in history…and by a very long way. It has pulled lots of non-party people into politics, and invigorated local campaigning in a way that traditional party politics has not been able to do. So healthy for democracy, let us hope the verve for engagement is retained.
