Pictorial diary
Tonight's blip is in direct response to an article written about Wyatt Neumann, a photographer who has caused uproar with his instagram account because there were some photographs of his 2 year old daughter which some deemed unappropriate. He, in response to his Instagram account being closed down, produced an exhibition of the images, posted next to the comments......the photographs weren't sick, the comments and attitude were! She is naked in some of the shots, but you can't see anything. His whole point is that our attitude towards him posting what is basically a simple pictorial diary of a perfectly natural upbringing shouldn't be over sexualised.
Yes! there are weirdos out there, but no more than before - it's simply more widely documented and photo sharing of course is much easier.....
There is nothing pornographic about the images but some people deemed they were, surely it is his right to document his child's life in whatever way he likes, I use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Blipfoto, my photographs very often feature my son, he's a big part of my life.
Anyway......it's a very grey area I know, but it's surely about letting kids have childhoods for as long as they can, let them run 'round naked.
Then, why should I be surprised, we live in a nation that accepts Page 3 girls as the norm and deems breast-feeding in a public place as disgusting.
Here's one of Finn, naked in the bath, but nothing more showing than if he were on the beach, the light in the bathroom is lovely, it bounces about off the white walls and this is simply that, a lovely photograph of my son.
