Dinner

If you look under the fuzz of the Black Darter's wings, the body of a cranefly is visible. It is not much smaller than the Darter and shows how voracious they are. As it flew off from the poolside, it looked as though it was carrying prey, but it looked enormous! When I tracked it down I was delighted to see it had such a great meal. They only have about three weeks of flight as a dragonfly after two/three years as a larva in the pond!
