white house black.
A chic new cafe and function centre has opened in Halswell.
It is a renovated grand homestead built in the 1880's by John Miln, a pioneering Scottish farmer. It features weatherboards crafted from pit sawn totara, and was built for his third wife. It is recorded that he was the first in Canterbury to have hot and cold running water in his house.
The house looks stunning with the black and white theme and is booked out tonight, its first day of operation.
