Basking in the sunshine

K and I took a trip down to the Botanic gardens in Edinburgh today, I'm so glad we did, the sunshine was just what I needed. I went thinking I could get some photos for submission to a photo competition the gardens are running which is due the end of September. Just as we were ready to leave I spotted this patch of sunflowers. There is something quite satisfying about standing beside a flower that towers over you and is so majestic. I picked this photo as well because it reminds me of a friend of mine who has in the past created her own monumental paintings of these joyful plants. (I think they would be joyful if they had a personality! at least a sense of humor anyway!)
