Man made garden
Living and working in the Lake District is a funny thing, and working in retail you often have odd conversations. One of the most common is about the "natural" beauty of the place.
Buttermere typifies this wonderfully. The valley used to be full of oak trees, the lake originally did not exist, and most of the valley was unrecognisable 200 years ago. The Victorians came and landscaped the whole valley, and this little fact is glossed over a lot.
As a conscientious cyclist I stickti legal paths, and places I'm permitted to be, but ut is annoying when people who live outside the area complain I'm spoiling the "natural" beauty...
