Ski Day
Up early and off to school by 6.15am, yes, I know!
And then off, destination Mt Hutt. Not the perfect weather day, but not bad, little wind, in between cloud layers, and no people. And for my first, and maybe only day, of the season, pretty decent,.
Kids were straight into a lesson, so all us helpers hit the snow, 1.5 hours of free time. Straight up, and then fast laps. As in fast! Wide open groomed slopes, no stopping us.
Kids lessons over, they were then into it. And even faster I think. Had to have a word with several of them, as we were supposed to be watching out for them, making sure no one got injured. They clearly didn’t care too much!
Lunch and then quickly back out, where I got hit with a large group of kids that wanted to go up. All good, except at the top, I discovered that it was Erik’s first day, and he couldn’t turn. One of his mates jollied him along “Erik, if you don’t challenge yourself you’ll never get any better”. Agreed, but first day!
Got Erik down, in one piece, then a bunch more fast laps with the kids.
Great day, but one was enough. Then next day, maybe some knee deep powder somewhere?
