Iceland Day 4
It's been another action packed day driving another 400 km across South Iceland.
First stop was Keriõ - a volcanic crater lake located in a caldera. We walked round the rim, and then down to the lake. Next stop was the fishing village of Stokkseyri. Blue sky, empty harbour. Not a soul in sight.
I managed to get the camera and myself soaked by walking behind the waterfalls at Seljalandsfoss and walking to the top of Skógafoss.
Drove close to Eyjafjallajökull - the volcano that caused the eruption disruption in 2011 - the summit was shrouded in cloud.
Drove up a gravel road to the glacier at Myrdalsjokull which conceals the upper part of a large volcano, the Katla. Walked down to the glacial lake which contained mini-icebergs.
Fish stew dinner in Vik before a 200 km drive on unlit roads back to Reykjavik.
Apparently the aurora was visible overnight. I did look several times but missed it. Predictions for the next 2 nights are fairly good.
