Spiers Wharf

This afternoon I had to get some items from Bookers, which is near Speirs Wharf.

As it was such a beautiful day I decided to take a detour around the canal at Spiers Wharf. During the 19th century Speirs Wharf was at the hub of Glasgow's industrial revolution and included Grain Mills, a Sugar Refinery and warehouses.

I love the late Georgian canal-side office building, which was originally the offices for the Forth & Clyde Navigation Co. The building was restored between 1989-90 after years of neglect.

This area is now sought after and the warehouses have been turned into flats and office spaces.
