Another glorious Wednesday

Regular readers will know that on Wednesdays I nearly always walk with the Haltwhistle Walkers.

Today Ann took us up and out of Allendale to the chimneys (from the lead industry). They are enormous and tower over the East Allen valley. The day started misty and although the sun came through there was a bit of haze in the distance. We walked over the top of the moors, with 360 degree views, then down into the West Allen and Keenlyside. Throw in Monks Wood and a path by the river and you have a perfect walk.

I noticed the yellow leaves on this twisted sapling and liked the way it sat in the landscape.
