Garden Star!
It was noticeable that most people who were kind enough to comment on yesterday's waxcap said they had never seen one. This one is particularly well camouflaged, but where you have unimproved grassland, like sheep pasture, they are not uncommon, and at the moment they are starting to appear in great numbers. You do have to look closely though - they are easy to miss if you are just strolling along. Good hunting!
An early blip today as I'm heading off to a meeting of the local Bird Study Group, the first one post Summer recess. Its main feature is a talk about a local area by a local birder, which is what I like best, rather than someone showing what are essentially holiday snaps.
Coming down with a cold which is annoying, but hopeful won't slow me down.
We've had a little wood mouse in the garden today, but it looked rather sluggish as though it was poorly, or had suffered some kind of trauma.
The badger returned last night and polished off the plums I had put out a few night ago.
